This was declared by Federal law (the Affordable Care Act/ACA), and by the State of NJ (see also the NJ Breastfeeding Strategic Plan).

Are you in network?
I am in network with most Aetna plans, Cigna, and United (through The Lactation Network). If you send me your insurance information I can verify and confirm your individual plan.
How much will it cost?
Most of the time, it will be completely free to the patient with no out of pocket costs. Every now and then there are plan limitations or deductible allowances. You can clarify these ahead of time and if you reach out to me individually, I can verify your benefits for you.
How many visits are covered?
Each plan is different. Some have unlimited visits, some cover up to 6, some only cover 1 or 2 visits.
Why do you ask for both the baby and the parent's insurance information?
I am legally required to bill for who receives care. Both people in the dyad, the lactating parent and the baby, are examined and assessed. Therefore I must bill both the parent's and baby's insurance.
What if the parent and baby are on different insurances?
If one of the patients are not on a plan considered in network, I charge $150 out of pocket for that patient and this can be submitted for reimbursement. If both the parent and baby are on separate insurances, but with an in network status, I submit individually for each patient to their respective insurances.
Do you charge for travel?
As long as your location is within my travel radius (Essex, Hudson, Union, and parts of Morris and Bergen county), I do not charge a fee.

I take credit card information for the instance of a cancellation that happens less than 24 hours notice of the appointment which incurs a $50 charge.
